Feb 26, 2012 · It's stellite, it's like hardface. Gotta TIG it and we use like 3/16 rod and crank up the heat. It's a cross that's mounted in a highly abrasive service. I absolutely hate doing that overlay, I have to wear two pairs of stick welding gloves and be careful I don't rest my coolant lines on the smoking hot fitting.

I used to Oxy- Acetylene stellite No 6 on to my cam followers using 1/4" diameter rod. Due to problems with insurance my Acetylene in the workshop has been got rid of. I now use tig and would like to purchase a small quantity of Stellite No 6 Tig rod about 3/32" or 1/8" diameter.

Jan 26, 2017 · I made this lathe stand for my Myfold ML7 from 40mm box section steel. I arc welded it to give it meat at the joints rather than TIG welding. I did think about fillet welding it with brass and lacquering the frame, but due to time restraints cracked on with the low hydrogen rods. Turned out all right. Just need to enamel paint it now. Happy days.
